ReadSense Support

Write to support@readsense.app and we will answer as soon as we can. It helps to say which device you use and what you were doing when something went wrong.

Which books can I read?

EPUB files that have no copy protection (DRM). ReadSense does not open PDF or other formats. Most books bought in the Kindle or Apple Books stores are copy-protected and open only in those apps. If you try to add one, ReadSense tells you that it is copy-protected. Free EPUBs of classic books are at Standard Ebooks (https://standardebooks.org) and Project Gutenberg (https://www.gutenberg.org).

How do I add a book?

In the Library, tap + and choose the file. Or, in the Files app or another app's share sheet, choose ReadSense. On an iPad you can also drag a file onto the Library. Books stay on your device.

How do I look something up?

Pages turn by swiping. Tap a margin or blank space to show the toolbar.

What is sent when I look something up?

The text you selected and text around it from the same chapter go to our server and on to an outside AI provider, which writes the answer. We do not keep that text. Nothing is sent until you make a lookup, and the app asks before the first one. The Privacy Policy has the details, and names the service: https://readsense.app/privacy

Why does an answer not mention something from earlier in the book?

An answer is written from the chapter you are reading, up to the place you selected. That is what keeps it from giving away what comes later. It also means that a name or an event from many chapters back is explained only as far as the current chapter shows.

An answer is wrong

Explanations are written by an AI model and can be mistaken. If one is clearly wrong, tell us the book, the chapter and the words you selected, and we will look into it.

Free lookups and subscribing

A new installation includes 50 free lookups; the number left is shown under each answer. Reading itself is always free. To subscribe, tap "See plans" under an answer, or open the Library, tap the gear and choose the subscription row.

How do I cancel?

Subscriptions are sold and billed by Apple. Open the Settings app on your device, tap your name, then Subscriptions, then ReadSense. Cancelling stops the next renewal; what you have paid for stays in force until the period ends. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.

Can I have a refund?

Refunds are decided by Apple. Ask at https://reportaproblem.apple.com.

I subscribed, but the app asks me to subscribe again

Open the Library, tap the gear, and tap Restore Purchases. Make sure the device is signed in to the Apple Account that bought the subscription. A subscription works on up to five installations of the app at a time.

"Explanations need an internet connection" or "ReadSense is busy"

Reading works offline; explanations need the internet. "Busy" passes: try again in a minute. A lookup that gets no answer is never counted.
